LCD Soundsystem - Shut Up and Play the Hits
A new clip from the forthcoming LCD Soundsystem documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits has appeared online. Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace’s new film charts the 48 hours surrounding the band’s final show at Madison Square Garden on April 2, 2011.
Shut Up and Play the Hits premiered at Sundance in January and will screen at SXSW this month.

Sound City (Trailer)
The trailer for Dave Grohl’s new documentary, Sound City, has appeared online. The film is set to tell the story of the legendary L.A. recording studios and will feature interviews with Tom Petty, Josh Homme, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Trent Reznor and several other artists who recorded at the Van Nuys facility. Sound City opened for business in 1969 and played host to the sessions for Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush, Nirvana’s Nevermind and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (to name but a few). The studio closed in 2011.
Speaking to Rolling Stone earlier this year, Grohl said: “When Sound City closed last year, it was a very sad day. I decided to make a film about that feeling you get when you put five guys in a room, hit “record,” and the hair on the back of your neck stands up.”

Nothing Can Hurt Me Now is a new feature-length film looking back at the music of cult Memphis legends, Big Star. A ‘Work In Progress’ version of the documentary is set to premiere at SXSW 2012 in March.

Paul Simon: Under African Skies, a new documentary chronicling the making of Simon’s 1986 multi-million-selling Graceland, will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on January 22.
Director Joe Berlinger - the man behind Metallica’s Some Kind of Monster - follows Simon as he returns to South Africa to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Graceland recording sessions. Under African Skies also features interviews with key anti-apartheid activists of the time and a host of musical luminaries such as Quincy Jones, Harry Belafonte, Paul McCartney, David Byrne and Peter Gabriel.
The documentary will also be included on the 25th anniversary deluxe editions of the album, due for release later this year.
